Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 13 year old son who has been having an up and down temp for 4 days. The highest was 102 last night the other 3 days its been 100.7 even at school. Tylenol has been given and only worked for a few hours then his temp is back the only other symptom is a stuffy nose that started late last night with a cough
I share your concerns about your son. Your son has got infection in nose, throat and bronchi or in lungs. I treat my patients with such symptoms in following ways 1 sputum (cough) microscopic examination to identify the organisms 2 a course of antibiotics (penicillin group) 3 decongestants 4 antihistamines 5 paracetamol tablet for fever 6 expectorant cough syrup 7 saline gargles Since most of these medicines are not available over the counter, you need to visit a general practitioners or ENT specialist for examination and request about these. Your son will be fine in 5 days.
I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to us or me for more questions. I wish good health to your son. Kindly rate this reply. Thanks
