Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain Facial twitching or Hemifacial spasms occurs commonly due to disorders related to
Facial Nerve which is seventh
cranial nerve and supplies impulses to muscles of face and any disturbances in its function leads to transmission of irregular and improper impulses to the muscles of face leading to involuntary and unwanted contractions of muscles causing twitching or spasms..
The most common cause is an artery compressing over the facial nerve while other causes can be Tumour compressing the nerve,BELL'S PALSY.
You should
consult a Neurologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get an MRI of the nerve done along with Electromyogram to study the muscular activty of face.
For controlling the spasms he can advise you to take
Muscle relaxant like Clonazepam, baclfen and anticonvulsant like Gabapentin and
Carbamazepine..
At times botox injection is also given to reduce muscle activities by paralysing them..
A surgical approach is planned for patients who does not respond to medicines..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
