Suggest Treatment For Eye Infection
My Mum, 73 has had some infection in her eyes for the last 2 weeks. Had antibiotic cream but her eyes are still angry and very red. She does have a problem with pressure behind one of her eyes. She is due to have her second cataract removal in September. Do you think she should be taking antibiotic capsules as well? Thanks

The common causes for persistence of infection are high virulence of the causative organism or resistance against the antibiotic used for treatment. Hence the antibiotic needs to be changed based preferably on the sensitivity report.
Antibiotics by oral route in the form of capsule are not known to be effective in treating eye infections as they won't reach the eye.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and for prescription of drugs.
