Suggest Treatment For Elevated Liver Enzymes

I just got my blood work results. My SGOT is 75 and my SGPT is 116. I do not drink. My gallbladder has been removed. I have been using a statin medication to lower my chlosterol for several years, but my liver enzymes have never been elevated before. My doctor is stopping the medication and retesting in 6 weeks. Is there anything else I can do to lower the levels?

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.

Increase in SGOT and SGPT has many cause like Hepatitis B, C, Metabolic disorders, NAFLD, alcohol intake etc. So I will suggest you to visit a Hepatologist for evaluation who will advise tests and then manage accordingly.

Meanwhile there are few medicines which I found very useful in my patients are ursodeoxycholic acid and vitamin E. Do regular exercise and reduce your weight if you are overweight

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health
