Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection During Pregnancy

Hi, I went to urgent care (due to my doctors office being closed on sundays) for two ear infections. He said that my right ear was definatly infected but not so much on my left. Also said my throat was a little red and irritated due to my ear infections...I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Also allergic to amoxcillian since my first pregnancy...so he prescribed me azithromycin. Gave me a paper that said if there was any leakage and stiffness in the neck to return to my family doctor and I noticed both as the night progressed. I only took it yesterday and today...now I've always have had ear infections in the past and had leakage...but never tooken azithromycin...and being pregnant is giving me a great fear something might happen...I know I'm definalty going to my doctors today but, I would like to hear someone else's opinon before I do so.

Thank you so much for your time.

Hello Welcome to Health Care Magic
Azithromycin has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetotoxicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
there is genetic scan which is done at 13 week and 20 weeks. genetic scan exactly can tell you if any damage to fetus. you can be sure about it by genetic scan by fetal medicine expert.
Don't worry much. Stay calm.
Hope this information helps you.
Best wishes.
