Hi Doctor: I first noticed very dry skin behind my ear on my scalp and then later it appeared to be in other parts of my scalp. I didn't think anything of it until I was told that my grandchildren had head lice and I thought that's what I had after talking to my stepson's girlfriend who was the person who had the job of trying to get rid of the head lice from my granddaughter, it didn't sound like the same thing. What I am getting from my scalp are white circular dandruff like pieces with a black dot in the middle. Also, last night I noticed that were also in the small crevice in the upper part of my ear. Do you happen to know if it's head lice or something else? I would really appreciate your help as my scalp is very sore and there are some red spots where I have been trying to get these things off my scalp that are around my crown area also.
