Suggest Treatment For Dry Mouth, Chapped Lips And Itchy Eyes

I am having dry mouth, not enough saliva to swallow and feel like I can t breathe until I swallow. Dry chapped lips, cracked eye corners , bloodshot and itchy eyes. Doesn t matter if I am continually sipping water. I ve checked the dehydration symptoms. Some seem to fit. But others not. I have other medical issues but it would take an hour to list them all. Currently recovering from swollen throat due to acid reflux, a benign biopsy of a tongue ulcer, and a yeast infection in my mouth. I also have a lot of allergies. YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
There is a possibility that you are suffering from Sjögren's syndrome ,a chronic, slowly progressive autoimmune disease resulting in xerostomia (dry mouth and lips) and dry eyes.
Patients complain of difficulty in swallowing dry food, inability to speak continuously, a burning sensation (in your case acid reflux).
Ocular involvement include accumulation of thick strands at the inner canthi (cracked eye corners as you mentioned), decreased tearing, redness (in your case bloodshot eyes)& itching.
In most patients, the primary syndrome runs a slow and benign course and 8–10 years may elapse from the initial symptoms (mucosal or nonspecific dryness)to full-blown development of the disease.
For initial screening you may undergo serum test for Autoantibodies to Ro/SS-A and La/SS-B antigens ,usually detected at the time of diagnosis and are associated with earlier disease onset.
