Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough

Hi.. I am suffering from dry cough since past three weeks.. and intermittent coughing since few years.. doctor has prescribed symbicort turbuhaler.. I am taking it since day before yesterday but my coughing has not subsided. It seems bit aggravated.. pls help

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of having intermittent coughing since a few years and dry cough for the last 3 weeks.
You are prescribed Symbicort and in fact increased your problem.
I would advise you the following based on a long history:
Investigations:
These are must as there is coughing for a long time-
- X-ray of the chest and the sinuses.
- CT scan if the X-rays are positive.
- Sputum examination
- Pulmonary function tests.
- Tests of blood, urine.

These tests will decide the future course of treatment under the care of a Pulmonologist.
