Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough

Hi I am suffering from dry cough which is been now one month. I consult with doctor and did some medical test, chest x-ray , lungsperformance test, TLC/DLC and found E component more than normal in DLC examine. He prescribed some medicine for some days got rid of cough but now again started. Please suggest on this. Regds Raman

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.As per your query you have dry cough which seems to be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. You may have lung infection or bronchitis. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. Consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents. Mast cell stablizers such as sodium cromoglycate is effective to prevent infection.

Hi,
As in Differential count Eosinophil count is more it indicates that you might be having Eosinophilic bronchitis.
For this condition one very specific and effective treatment is Di-Etyl- Carbamazine medicine and in the market available as Hetrazan or Unicarbazine forte.
This is prescription medicine so you will get on doctor's prescription.
Consult your doctor and discuss about this.
