Dr, scaly, itchy skin lesions at knee suggests a possibility of
plaque psoriasis.
There may lesions elsewhere in support of the diagnosis of psoriasis.
In psoriasis, scaly itchy plaques classically involve extensor surface of knee joint, elbow joint, shins, lower back etc.
Scalp is also commonly involved in psoriasis with scaly patches or diffuse scaling.
Diagnosis is clinical.
Skin biopsy may rarely be required to confirm clinical diagnosis.
Psoriasis is a steroid responsive
dermatoses, therefore, treatment usually involves topical potent steroids with or without
salicylic acid.
