Hi,

Citalopram is a antidepressant whereas Diazepam is a sedative drug. For depression you will be needing an antidepressant. Antidepressant in the beginning of treatment can have few side effects and so they are started at a low dose and increased gradually.

Citalopram can cause headache, dizziness and diarrhea as side effect. There are other safer antidepressant available which can be chosen according to your profile. It will be better to seek treatment as early as possible as the symptoms may worsen over time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rohit Kothari,
