Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi

Thanks for your question

The only indicaition for surgery is if you have further dislocation of your shoulder joint. Your surgeon is correct in that 2 dislocations are not necessarily an indication for treatment.

If you do end up having surgery it will make your shoulder weaker and stiffer and so it is improtant to maximise your strength and mobility whatever the ultimate treatment plan.

I hope this information addresses your concerns.

Best wishes
