Suggest Treatment For Difficulty Swallowing And Stomach Gas Problem
My wife (age 41 yrs) was diagnosed with Achalasia in March 2011 and had undergone Heller s Myotomy. However, even after the surgery she continues to have problems in eating and swallowing sometimes and suffers from lot of gas related problems and cannot take food properly. There is no increase in her body weight either which is around 39 Kgs. Please advise on an appropriate course of treatment.

Achalasia is characterised by raised pressure in lower end of esophagus which causes difficulty in swallowing.
The surgery for achalasia is curative however, if the symptoms are still persisting, you need to consult your operating surgeon for assessment.
The pressure at lower end of esophagus needs to be monitored.
If the pressure at lower end of esophagus is still high, a revision surgery may be required.
