Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Swallowing After Drinking Soft Drink

Hi. Two days ago, I was taking a drink of Coke and it stopped about halfway down my esophagus, like as air-lock. It finally went down, but ever since then, it hurts when I swallow anything - water, Coke, food, and even sometimes when I m just swallowing naturally. Could I have bruised my esophagus when this air-lock occurred? It even hurts in my back between my shoulder blades. Oh, and I do take prilosec daily for my heartburn. Thank you!

Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to tonsillitis.

For that you may require antibiotics like azithromycin.

Along with that do saline or Betadine gargles. Take steam inhalation twice a day.

For fever you can take tablet acetaminophen. Take hygienic food and water

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
