Most diarrheal illnesses are caused by viruses that usually last for 1 to 3 days, but there are many, many different reasons why people have diarrhea. Sometimes when starting a new medication people can get diarrhea.
Anxiety can cause significant diarrhea.
I would recommend:
-Probiotics
-Zinc and calcium products can decrease diarrhea
- check stool for blood
-Try to continue eating a regular diet
-Bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast can decrease episodes of diarrhea
- coffee, alcohol, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, meat, and heavily seasoned foods can exacerbate symptoms
- if you recently started a new medication, you should see your doctor and let him know that you are continuing to have diarrhea.
