hi im 53 yrs old female, over the weekend i took diclafenic for trapped nerve in my neck, i also had severe diarrhea.. i noticed i was passing blood with the stool. went to my gp on monday and had rectal examination.. said all feels ok .. sent stool sample off to lab for testing.. results today said no further testing required.. do these tests show reasons for alarm ? eg cancer
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Bleeding per rectum at the age of 53 has to be taken seriously till a cause is found. Diclofenac per se is not known to cause such a complication. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult a General Surgeon for a proper per-rectal digital examination, ano-proctoscopy and get an appointment for colonoscopy. If there is any suspicion of a cancer CT scan of the abdomen may also be needed. The commonest cause is piles that needs to be ruled out. Once a proper diagnosis has been made, you need to get an appropriate management as per the cause found.
