Suggest Treatment For Diaper Rash In The Rectal Area

My brother has had a a rash at first from beginning last 09/20/17 on his bottom close to the rectum area he is Down syndrome doesn t talk so I can t say if he is hurting all the time but never the less I could tell he is especially when changing his diaper. He is a 38 year old with special needs I ve taking him to his primary doctor and have been told it s just a diaper rash but they haven t seen that area to tell what it is. I m really concerned because in my family colon cancer runs my mother just passed away last year and one of my oldest brother also had it but was caught in time at stage 2 please help me in understanding what other measures I need to take

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably he has developed fungal infection.
Your description matches with that.
I treat such cases with a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole to be applied twice daily for two weeks.
It is usually available over the counter.
You can try this for your brother.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
