Hello there,
If your blood sugar is showing 19 mmol then that is a very high value. If you are already a known diabetic then you definitely need to change your medications and improve the diet and exercise pattern that you are following after evaluation for the cause of increase in blood sugars. If you are newly detected then you need a thorough examination and more blood tests to find out your type of diabetes and if kidney functions and cholesterol levels are normal. Please see a diabetologist who can do all the required tests and start you on therapy. Till then drink enough water. Stop all sugars in diet. Try to include some form of exercise for 15 - 20 minutes (start slow initially) daily if you do not have any heart related problems. See a diabetologist soon.
Take care.
