Suggest Treatment For Depression And Panic Attacks

My best friend hasn't slept properly for the last year. It all started at the beginning of 2009. She began having this dream that she'd wake up terrified from. I've witnessed this first hand, she'd be crying in her sleep and she'd wake up crying. She'd be going to school everyday with one or two, maybe three hours sleep. Then, for about a month or two, the dreams stopped. All was good, but then she started having this new dream. This one was about her granda. He's been in jail for the last so many years and was recently released for a little while. In her dream he's just coming towards her and she can't move.

This dream has gone on for a good few months now and it got to the stage where she'd freak out and start shaking all over and would panic that her granda was behind her. She'd see him everywhere. Now when she dreams she wakes up and has a panic attack. She's literally terrified to go to sleep.

Even more recently she has started fainting. It started out happening once or twice a week, but last Tuesday she fainted four times in half an hour, bringing that days total to ten times. She fainted ten times in one day.

I then found out that on her birthday (Thursday 25th) she had a nosebleed. Fair enough. Happens to lots of people, but she then had another one on Saturday and another one today.

And then to top it all off, last month she was diagnosed as being in the early stages of depression.

She's had blood tests, which have come back clear and she's also had an ecg heart trace (?), the results of which were also clear. She's been referred to a doctor in charge of CT scans and that kind of thing, but to be quite honest, I've lost hope of a diagnosis.

Please tell me you know what's wrong with her. She's 15 and the only thing she's told is that it's behavioural. I know my best friend. She's not faking the fainting. No one can fake what happens to her. Help me.

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. Yes. You are right. No one can fake the fainting. But the unconscious mind can. It is not fake fainting. When the anxiety becomes intolerable, body triggers a defense mechanism called fainting. There is nothing to fear about it. the doctors are doing well. the process is as it is supposed to be. don;t worry, after all checks, doctors will suggest with medications. Your friend will be alright. work with the doctors.
