Suggest Treatment For Degenerative Disc And Scoliosis

My mother has degenerative disc and scoliosis. She was told that when her curved back had reached a 45 degree angle they would fix it. She is at a 43 degree angle and is in so much pain its unbearable. She is also 69 years old and surgery isn t what is typically done if your over 50. It is getting worse by the day and something has to be done now, she is suffering. What are treatment options at this point and what type of surgeon do you recommend?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. You need to meet a spine surgeon.
2. Posture is very important to reduce pain. Mild back exercises, if possible needs to be done.
3. At 69 years, major surgery is difficult. With a curved back, respiratory system would not be strong enough to take general anesthesia. Try to get physiotherapy done.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
