Suggest Treatment For Cramps And Food Poisoning

I ate some beef stew stored for 4 days in my old refrigerator which was not staying cold enough. The next day I had diarrhea and since then I ve had intermittent severe intestinal cramps. I ve been pooping 2-6 times a day. The stools are a weird lumpy texture with distinct skinny parts up to a few inches long, right in the middle. One day my only poops were skinny all the way, and looked mucousy. I suspect this is from the part of my intestine that is cramping so much. I have also had intermittent gas, some odorless, some foul smelling. I have tried all the home remedies I know but it persists. Also, I just threw up from the pain. Help! What is it?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

If there is diarrhea and bdominal cramps then there will be chances of electrolyte imbalance in the blood with gastric upset.

It is due to food poisoning means bacteria containing toxins which irritates our gastrointestinal system.

You should be monitored for her vitals signs like pulse, blood pressure etc.

You can be given plenty of water with lemon juice (added salt),coconut water or WHO oral rehydration solution.

The important thing is to combat diarrhea and for which you would require antiemetic drugs (mostly injectables or oral),prebiotics and probiotics with antibiotics (norfloxacin with antiprotozoals like ornidazole preferred) with other water and electrolyte fluids.

So,it would be advisable that if you go to physician for all routine blood investigation and proper treatment.

Home treatment might help but you actually requires complete course of treatment as I explained.

Thanks and Regards,
