Suggest Treatment For Coughing And Thick Mucus In Throat
Hello Doctor for some time now i have suffered with thick mucus in my troat and it settles on my chest causing severe coughing i do use a nasal spray doctor prescribed and i also use a steam inhaler. Can you suggest anything else i could use thank you Greta Dutson.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of coughing and thick mucus in throat which is because of due to upper respiratory infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics such as Azithromycin along with anti-inflammatory medications such as Levocetirizine.
- Avoid cold beverages.
- Do warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day with lukewarm water.
- Take diet rich in fruits rich in vitamin C as it will boost your immunity.
- Take steam inhalation and an expectorant cough syrup such as Phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start proper course of antibiotics.
