Now I can t quit coughing and I feel like my chest is burning. Probably wasn t 3 minutes. Is there something I can do to calm my chest and cough down .

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having inhalation lung injury.
Inhalation of fumes can cause inflammation and irritation of airways.
And this can cause cough, chest pain, chest tightness etc.
Usually all these symptoms are self limiting with avoidance of exposure and inhalation of fresh air.
So you have done right thing and you well gradually improve in 1-2 hours.
Don't panic, drink plenty of fluids orally, do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
You can take simple anti inflammatory drug.
If cough worsens or you develop breathlessness then consult pulmonologist because you may need inhaled bronchodilators.
Don't worry, you will mostly improve in 1-2 hours.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks
