Suggest Treatment For Cough And Runny Nose In A Child

My 4.5 year old son has a chesty cough and runny nose for approx 1 week now. He's not coughing anything up at all and I have been using his ventolin 4 hourly and some benadryl chesty cough with nasal congestion to help the cough and dry up the nose. Tonight I noticed he was twitching his arms. I asked him if he was doing it on purpose to which he responded he wasn't he was just cold. He also says he is not finding it hard to breath (there doesn't appear to be any major sucking in at his ribs) he just wants to stop coughing. Any ideas on what I should do would be appreciated.
