Suggest Treatment For Cough And Ear Pain In A Child

Hello doc.. My 3year old daughter has sever ear pain... Started all of sudden in her sleep,and it's for the first time... She has cought n cold past few days.. Gave her ascoril and augmentin syrup but not completely recovered... And now this ear pain.. Could u please advise as my doctor is out of town.. Thanks.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain severe ear ache post cold and cough seems to be due to Ear infection..
As the ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube thus infection effecing throat can also infection the ears leading to infection and pain..
I would suggest you to continue giving her Augmentin to relieve infection..
You can give her Ibuprofen or Tylenol for relieving pain..
Antibiotic ear drops like Gentamycin can help..
In case of no improvement in one week consult an ENT expert and get evaluated..
