Suggest Treatment For Cough And Cold

Hi I have had a cold and tickly cough since Saturday. The cough now seems chesty and I have an intermittent sharp stinging sensation in my lower left chest area just above the bottom of my rib cage. I am a 49 year old woman, run a couple of times a week and have no health issues at all. Should I see my doctor or will it get better on its own? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

Symptoms are suggestive of common cold. I would suggest you following things:
> Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan for cough.
> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
> Take acetaminophen for pain

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food

If condition does not improve in 2-3 days then i would suggest you to visit hospital.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
