Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your daughter's history.

I would like to suggest you as follows for your query:

1. As she responds well, to Corex Dx and every time her symptoms subside within 2-3 days, there is not much to worry. However, please make sure that you are giving her Corex Dx according to your pediatrician's suggestion and not more than that dose.

2. Not all coughs and sneezes are same. So I would never recommend to self medicate such a young child. It's always desirable to see a pediatrician should she develops symptoms.

3. Contents of Corex Dx can sometimes cause sedation, drowsiness, constipation, etc. Do look for side effects if you give it to her. Also, the content, dextromethorphan, is not the medicine for all the types of cough in children. There are other medicines also for different types of cough.

4. Were I treating her, I would prescribe her vitamin C for 4 weeks, which may help to reduce frequency of her common cold symptoms.

5. If anyone from your family is a smoker, I would suggest him/her at least not to smoke inside the home, if he/she cannot quit smoking.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Wish your daughter the best of the health.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Regards.
