Suggest Treatment For Constipation

Husband has most uncomfortable constipation ( which he never has) and has blood when straining. He had a colonoscopy in December and had several polyps removed.....and experienced bloody stools thereafter...which they said was normal. Had him take a ducolax rather than an enema. What would you suggest he do to relieve the discomfort?
