Suggest Treatment For Constipation After Back Surgery

My husband had back surgery almost 2 weeks ago. While in the hospital, he became VERY constipated. It took 2 SMOG enemas (2 different days) to give him relief. That was almost 1 week ago. He still has very loose stools. Is this normal. They tested him before he left for CDIFF, and he tested negative. It seems to happen a few hours after he s eaten. Can I give him immodium?

Hello,

Thank you for the question and welcome to Healthcaremagic!

Inorder to help you i will need some more information about your health like is he still on any antibiotic? are the stool watery and how frequently does he pass motion in a day? Is he under any stress or anxious because of any reason?

Anxiety is likely to the cause in his case. Takecare of him and make him walk or move as much as he can. Avoid immodium if the stools are just loose and once or twice a day. In his diet include more fiber and salt unless not advised to him due to medical condition.

Hope this helped with your query.
