Suggest Treatment For Constant Sniffing And Pressure In Ear
Hello - My husband suffers from a nasal condition that has him sniffing constantly and his ear popping (like on an airplane.) It seems to worsen if he is tired. He is not sure if the problem is the ear, or sinus. If a few drops of hydrogen peroxide are put into the ear, it subsides for a while but doesn t last. He had a bout of throat cancer about 10 years ago with radiation treatment and has recently had confirmation that all is OK in that area. His ears have recently been flushed out but has had no effect on this problem. Any suggestions please.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of your husband having treated throat cancer 10 years ago with radiation and has now a problem of sniffing the nose and popping of the ears. This is due to the nasal congestion going to the opening of the Eustachian tubes causing a condition called ETD= Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. I would advise : Get an ENT examination, Nasal decongestant drops, steam inhalation. Stop the habit of blowing or sniffing the nose then only it is possible to have corrective actions.
