General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What your husband is having could be pericardial effusion along with congestive cardiac failure.
The main stay of treatment needs to be taken in hospital, which he is undergoing.
Pericardial effusion needs to be drained. For his functioning of heart, he has to be on cardiotonic drugs like Digoxin. To prevent excess accumulation of fluids in tissues, he needs to be given diuretic drug like spironolactone.
Apart from this, his may require other forms of medications or supportive treatment like controlling blood pressure and monitoring of vital signs, as necessary according to the situation.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Wish him speedy recovery.
