Suggest Treatment For Congestion And Severe Cold

Hi, I have recently had a severe cold with a lot of congestion. I seem to be doing better but now everything I eat taste like salt and I have a constant salt taste in my mouth. I never had a sore throat and the small amount fever I ran in the beginning was very low. My cough has become more productive, but anything that comes up is just white and my nasal drainage is clear like saline. Could this all just be from the cold or perhaps something more? My Children just got over Strep throat. Can someone help?

- Dietary precautions also help .
- Avoid smoking , alcohol .
- Decongestant medicines also help to recover early .
