hello

it can be due to infection in chest.bronchitis.

please mention your age.

have you taken any medication?

It's best not to suppress a cough that brings up mucus, because coughing helps remove irritants from your lungs and air passages. If your cough keeps you from sleeping, you might try cough suppressants at bedtime.

if the infection is due to bacteria antibiotics can really help.

due to mucous some times it gives bitter taste in mouth also.

i would suggest you to visit a doctor for the prescription medicine.

Hope this answer helps.

Regards
Dr. Shesh
