hello i've had a cold for almost three weeks. it started off as a cough and i though it was getting better by week 2 but then came a runny nose & last weekend i was vomitting. This week I have totally lost my appetite, vomit mucus a little, have a hacking cough, cant hear out of one ear, & cold/hot flashes. Could you please tell me what could be wrong & it i should be examined by a doctor asap?
Cough and cold infections can be prolonged in some cases. The decreased hearing in the ear may be due to infection in the ear or dysfunction of the eustachian tube (tube in the ear).
Loss of appetite, coughing, chills can occur with these infections.
If the cough is wet, then a mucolytic can be used to break up the mucus so that it can be expelled. eg bisolvan, mucomyst, guaifenesin A decongestant with antihistamine may also help.
You may need to consider visiting a doctor to see if antibiotics are necessary.
I hope this helps
