Suggest Treatment For Cluster Of Small Red Dots On Hands, Legs And Feet

Hi, my five year old daughter has tiny clusters of pin-like red dots on her hands, legs and feet. The dots seem to come on randomly, mostly at the end of the day, they are mostly flat and sometimes disappear or become very faint by the morning. She does have quite a few bruises, mostly in I believe typical places (i.e. shins and knees) but she has one near each hip bone (her sister also gets bruises here due to, I believe, the tight placement and height of our coffee table that they play on and near). She also has a small bruise on the top of her hand and two on the back of her forearm. Also, I recently noticed that She a tiny dark blood spot on her big toe near the nail perhaps from stubbing her toe? She is normally VERY pale so it s hard to say if she looks paler than normal. Besides being constipated (which can be normal for her), she doesn t present with any other symptoms. Happy to send some pics if you d like. Trying to determine if I should bring her in to be evaluated or if this may not be petechiae. Thank you, Jennie

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cluster of small red dots on hands, legs and feet. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like hives , meningococcemia , shingles , scabies , contact dermatitis , eczema or psoriasis. Need not to worry. Avoid touching or pricking rashes. You should wear loose clothes as tight clothes will create frictional heat. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test , allergy test and skin patch test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants and corticosteroid ointment along with antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis . For now avoid playing and take benadryl twice .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
