Suggest Treatment For Clogs In The Ear

My mother is 82 y/o had a recent bout of pnemonia and her left ear has fluid in the inner ear. Two trips to the ENT 4 weeks on steroids and no relief, she is dizzy and cannot hear. We are now on a 5 day z-pack, we were told it is not wax the Dr. said he sees a bubble and it could be permanent, no pain just clogged.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
The patient's age is 82 years. The clogging in the ears can be age related. This is enhanced by the fluid in the ear secondary to respiratory tract infection.
If the treatment is not helping her, I would advise to go for a CT scan of the mastoids to see whether there is fluid in the middle ear and inflammation of the inner ear structures which can have problem of dizziness. This can not be permanent and can be treated .
