Suggest Treatment For Cirrhosis And Portal Vein Thrombosis

Hi, My Father-in-law is suffering with cirrhosis and Portal Vein Thrombosis(PVT). He also has urine infection and the urine flow was reduced from a few years. And when we consult a urologist, he has asked for MCU. In the MCU report, it has shown that he has physical block on the tip of the penice due to which there are multiple urethral strictures. Urologist said, a Endoscopic surgery is required to remove the physical blocks and cut(open) the strictures, where required. However for the surgery, the urologist was worrying about other issues like PVT and Cirrihosis, that the patient have. Could you please suggest, what would be the better treatment for this situation. Also suggest me a good urologist and hepatologist in Hyderabad/Bangalore who can take care of the urology surgery, followed by Cirrihosis and PVT.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

This is serious disease if cirrhosis is present and quitting alcohol is the most important thing that should be done. Also, medications which are hematotoxic should be avoided. This is necessary to prevent disease progression which is lethal in most cases. At early stages it can be treated with these measures but but in case of progression.
Diet should be balanced and healthy and get regular exercise. Limit high-carb foods such as bread, grits, rice, potatoes, and corn. And cut down on drinks with lots of sugar like sports drinks and juice. If there is viral hepatitis as underlying cause then antiviral medications are required.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
