Suggest Treatment For Chronic Upper Respiratory Problems
Hi. I am a 36year old female. I had thyroid cancer in 2011.I first began to get sick in 2009. Since then i have chronic upper respiratory . I seem to get ill chronically on and off. Sore throat , swollen lymph nodes headaches body aches lightheaded fatigue. I am being treated by a endocrinologist. What else can i do to find out why i am chronically sick. I have seen ents , pcps , and have been tested for autoimmune diseases. Who do i see? What do i do ? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome also. My immune system is horrible. I get dizzy alot and i have exercise intolerance. I was told i should have a immunoglobulin test done . Is this possibly an indication of chronic epstein barr virus or some kind of other virus? Thankyou for your time. Loren
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic upper respiratory problems which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get blood test done to rule out epstein virus infection. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin for at least for 5 days along with decongestant.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
