Suggest Treatment For Chronic Stomach Pain

Hello, I am a 33 year old male and have had stomach pain or discomfort nearly everyday for the past three years. My stomach feels great every morning and then steadily seems to get worse throughout the day. I have had a couple upper gi s done as well as a couple colonoscopy s. I ve had gall bladder checked out, I ve had a ct scan done and a couple other tests as well. I had the surgery to repair a small hiatal hernia a few years ago but everything was fine until about 6 months after the surgery so I m ruling that out. I ve also had an upper gi done after that surgery and everything checked out. The gastro doc put me on vsl #3 and didn t seem to have any positive effect. I usually have a bowel every day. Like I said the cramping seems to get worse throughout the day as I eat but I will also experience pain if I don t eat and have a very empty stomach. I don t smoke and only drink maybe once a week and that seems to make the cramping go down. This has basically ruined my life the past few years and am not looking forward to the rest of my life living like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

hi.
thanks for posting your query at HCM.

i recommend to:

1. have a H.plori test ( Urea Breath Test - UBT) . If results are positive , you may need follow the eradication therapy
2. use a proton pump inhibitor ( omeprazole, pantoprazole) before breakfast for atleast one month.
3. avoid fat meals and use less salt
4. eat fresh fruits
5. eat dinner atleast 3 hours before going to bed
6. include plain yogurt in your meals
7. loose weight if overweight or obese
8. Avoid alcohol for atleast 2 to 4 weeks ( until medication being used) If you quit it completely, that would benefit alot

Hope to answer your concern.

Wish you good and sound health.

Regards,
Dr Tayyab Malik
