Suggest Treatment For Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria

I have been dealing with chronic idiopathic urticaria. Never goes away. Prednisone and Benadryl are the only things that seem to work for me but I cant get prednisone. Benadryl makes me tired and hard to function at work with fatigue. I don t know what has caused this other than a tick bite 5 or 6 years ago but Lyme test and Alpha Gal comes back negative. Seem to be short of breath walking especially uphill. Taking Singulair. Sometimes have chills and hives usually on legs back shoulders hands sometimes on my face. Different everyday. What is this will it ever go away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is no cure for allergy and urticaria. However, the treatment provided prevent the symptoms as well as the occurrence of any complications.
• You need to avoid allergens as much as you can.
• You can use Loratadine or other anti-histamine.
• Apply topical Fenistil gel.
• You can use drugs and soothing agent, Calm lotion to relieve the condition dramatically.
• Anti-histamine injections or steroid injections in severe cases.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
