Dear thanks for the question.
I share your concerns. It looks like a classic case of
bronchitis (inflammation of airway lining). Early morning cough, dry, with breathing difficulty indicates bronchitis. Most Common cause is smoking and pollution of air. Occasional green sputum indicates infection.
I treat my patients with these symptoms in following ways
1 lung function test by spirometry
2 blood work up for wbc count and
haemoglobin levels.
3
sputum culture and sensitivity for antibiotics
4 chest x ray
Then I prescribe
bronchodilator (
salbutamol,
ipratropium) , antihistamines (levocetrizine), antibiotics (augumentin 625mg three times a day for a week) and expectorant (
bromhexine). Please remember you have to take treatment for very long duration except antibiotics which is required for only a week.
Quit smoking if you do. Otherwise relief will not be final and complete.
I advise you to visit doctor and request him above mentioned tests and medications.
I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write for follow up queries. I wish you complete recovery and healthy living. Please provide a feedback. Thanks
