Suggest Treatment For Chronic Diarrhea

for the past 3 weeks I have had diarreah. I have tried dieting, loperamide, and codeine. however at times I became constipated, followed by excessive wind, and very liquid motions. at present I am eating sparingly but experiencing no firm motions. I need to be near a toilet at all times, especially after a meal. graeme

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Graeme
I appreciate your concern
I would like further information to help you better like your age and complete medical history like diabetes or throid disease

I would advise you to make certain dietary changes and life style modifications
Have plenty of dietary fibers, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables
Say no to smoking and alcohol
Avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food or carbonated drinks
Remain cheerful, avoid excessive stress and anxiety
Exercise regularly like abdominal exercises, walking and swimming

If it doesn't improve than consult a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy and stool test.
