Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cramps In Legs

Yes I really have chronic cramps in both legs starting in the calf up to my t highs .The pain is so bad I feel sick and I don t know where to put my legs. I am unable to stand on my legs as I can t straighten them due to the chronic pain. Also I don t like anyone touching my legs. The only relief I can get is to be helped into a shower and get hot water on my legs and this does take a long time. I am taking magnesium tablets I don t drink and I do play golf. Help.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Your description suggests that you are getting cramps in the calf muscles.Cramps are painful spasms in a muscle and are often caused by overuse, dehydration, or nutritional deficiencies.
Following measure will help-
*Drink fluid-An electrolyte imbalance can be the cause of muscle spasms, so rehydrating with an electrolyte drink can help restore balance.
*Stretch the affected muscle with a mild, static stretch.
*Use ice to numb the pain in a cramp, reducing inflammation and allowing the muscle to relax.
*Bring the affected muscle into a relaxed position and apply direct compression to the cramp.
*Supplement your diet with potassium and magnesium. Bananas are a great natural source of potassium. Consult your doctor before beginning a supplement regimen.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
