Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough And Chest Congestion

I have chronic cough and chest congestion. The doc said gave me an inhaler, however, last night I had a hard time driving home because the cold hurt my chest so much and I also have a very sharp pain inbetween my shoulders in my back. My side by my ribs also hurts. It seems to be getting worse not better.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chronic cough and chest congestion which is due to chronic lung infection or bronchitis. Need not to worry much. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid taking cold carbonated beverages. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest done. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should take an opinion of an ENT Surgeon to see for the ENT causes like allergy, post-nasal drip and so on and a CT scan. You should take cough expectorants as well. You should use mist humidifiers in room. Take steam several times a day , which will be very helpful and take anti histamine .
