Suggest Treatment For Chest Tightness And Breathing Difficulties

I had a bad dose of respiratory flu four weeks ago, with a lot of wet coughing, About a week afterwards I developed chest tightness and intermittent breathing difficulties. I have been back to my doctor several times, (she prescribed inhalers) and have had pulmonary function tests. My pulmonologist said I have mild bronchiospasms due to phlegm and coughing, otherwise my lung function readings are about 110%. (It doesn't seem likely I have asthma).

He also stated that bronchiospasms after infection can last about 3 months. What do you advise?

Hello,
I am very familiar with your problem as I treat many patients with this problem.
It is called 'asthmatic bronchitis'. You have a lung infection and it gives you breathing difficulty and chest tightness like asthma. Once your infection resolves your breathing becomes normal. Often there can be some obstructive changes in the lung functions which returns to normal with the resolution of the problem.
