Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain , Heart Burn And High Blood Pressure

I have a family history of heart attacks. My father died from a sudden massive heart attack at the age of 51. His mother, father, 2 brothers and a sister also. I am 43 yrs old and have been experiencing chest pains mainly on the left side and heart burn (acid reflux). Just wondering if this could be warning signs? I also have high blood pressure in which I take medication. It was high (150/104) but since is slowly coming down. An hour later it was140/98. Is this a major concern that I need to go to the emergency room?

It is very important to take care of this situation. You have multiples risk factors for coronary artery disease, including : older than 40 years old, family history, hypertension. I don't know your sex , but if you are male with high cholesterol and diabetes, that will increase the risk factors. You need a complete cardiac workup with an electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and stress test to have a better view of your medical situation. You should go to the emergency room if have chest pain, do not wait. In addition to this, your blood pressure is high.

Considering the strong family history and hypertension, it's always wiser to take an ecg if the pain is characteristic, increase with exertion and not subsiding. Temporary increase on blood pressure can occur is reflux, however I will suggest you to take more Reading at different times of day and titrate your anti hypertensive dose. If the pain has subsided, at your own convenience I advice you to get a stress test sos baseline 2 d echo to be done. If regards
