Hi, I had a robotic-assisted lingual tonsillectomy a few months ago due to enlarged lingual tonsils causing dysphagia. I have had a lot of throat issues in the past which lead to me getting my tonsils removed in 2004. I continued having issues and was told I had lingual tonsils back in 2010. The doctor told me surgery wasn t needed because they weren t large enough to cause a concern. Symptoms worsened and I started to have issues with sleep, problems breathing, and trouble swallowing with the feeling of something stuck in my throat. Finally an ear throat and nose doctor sent me to get them removed. Since I have recovered from surgery I have still been experiencing many issues. I have been experiencing dysphagia, trouble swallowing, my voice has changed (like there s a bubble in my throat), sleep apnea (wake up feeling I can t breathe), out of breath, and decreased production of saliva. I had a follow up appointment today from a different doctor because I moved to a different state. The ear nose and throat specialist was shocked when he looked down my throat. He said he had only heard about something like this in classes from college and has never heard of such a thing since. He said there has been rapid growth of scar tissue and I m only using 1/4 of my airway. I am now being referred to a university for further diagnosis. The doctor s notes stated: Orpharyngeal scar: severe resulting in throat symptoms. Needs further treatment and possible surgery and should be referred to university facility. I have been dealing with this for so long and no one seems to know what to do and no one even really knows what it is. Can someone give me some answers??
