Suggest Treatment For Change In Voice Quality And Hoarseness

Problem with decreased and horse voice as day progresses. Not a deep horseness, more of a wisper like sound. With effort, I can project my voice to near normal, but in casual conversation at lower volume than projecting, it is more whisper-like. It is normal in the morning when I get up. By noon it is obviously present. I also frequently react with runny nose while eating a meal. I am 5 11 and weigh 150 pounds. Am on a vegan diet with low oil and sugar. Have had quad by-pass in 2000 and stint in 2005 for one bypass that did not take. MEDS: Morning: Coumadin wkly 2.5-5mg(varies) Carvedilol 12.5 mg AM and PM Vitamin B12 1000 IU Meds Evening: Tamsulosin HCL 0.4 mg Atorvastatin calcium 20mg Carvedilol 12.5 mg AM and PM Losartan 25mg

Hi,

Noted your history of deteriorating sound over the day, being normal in the morning, hear bypass and stent done hence on a combination of medicines like Coumadin as a blood thinner, Carvedilol, Vitamin B12, Tamsulocin indicating benign prostatic hyperplasia, Atorvastatin and Losartan.
The deterioration of voice over the passing day indicate the fatigue of the muscles moving the vocal cord and may the edema of vocal cord increasing as the time passes on daily basis.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon and insist for Laryngoscopy to know the exact problem by visualization.
This will allow the specific management.
Most important is to have voice rest as much as possible.
Talk in low tones only.
No continuous talking at all.
Oral medicines like anti-inflammatory medicine and steroids should help you to overcome the problems.
Continue proper follow up for ENT and Cardiac problems and updated treatment as needed.
