Hi. I have had really bad pain in my solar plex since 5am when I was woken with horrendous pain in my solar plex and found it hard to breath, also had pain in same area but on my back as well? I have also found myself for past few years waking up in the middle of the night with what feel like complete emptiness in my stomach?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I understand your concern. Based on the symptoms described, i assume you have problems associated with your epigastric region ( described by you as solar plexus). There are various causes of epigastric pain.

my leading differential diagnosis would be :

1) peptic ulcer disease
2) pancreatitis - if you have history of alcohol intake
3) cholecystitis - infection of the gall bladder/ bile duct
4) Hepatitis - inflammation of the liver

if you could provide me with few more symptoms/ presentation then we could proceed further. Hope i answered your question
