Suggest Treatment For Burning Rashes On The Penis That Flare-up After Sex

My husband has had a rash on his penis for months now. It is a rash looking red bumps that are on his shaft right behind his head and a few spots on his head. Has been working late nights and did not take regular shower after sweating all day. He said it burn and flares up after sex. Has been using yeast medicine and starts to go away but now seems to have spread.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Yeast infection needs to be treated appropriately to prevent spread and recurrent flare ups.
Treatment for mild cases can be just topical application of antifungal preparations twice a day for a minimum of two weeks. Once it disappears, the frequency should be gradually reduced once a day for 7 days and then once every alternate day for another week.

It is also Important for both partners to be treated simultaneously to prevent recurrence.

I recommend :
-a physician /dermatologist consult
-an OBGYN consult for you
-if lesions reappear during the tapering off period, see your doctor immediately
-a scrape test of the affected skin can help to confirm diagnosis.

Maintain proper and regular hygiene.
Change underclothes regularly.
Avoid harsh soaps and cosmetics on the affected area. Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
